Veggie Compass' tools are designed to help growers improve on farm decision making and financial farm planning in order to maximize profitability and ensure the continuation of sustainable farms.

  • FamilyFarmed’s mission is to expand the production, marketing and distribution of locally grown and responsibly produced food, in order to enhance the social, economic and environmental health of our communities. 

  • The mission of Stone Barns Center is to create a healthy and sustainable food system that benefits us all. Located 25 miles north of Manhattan, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit institution. They operate an 80-acre farm and work to: increase public awareness of healthy, seasonal and sustainable food; train farmers in resilient, restorative farming techniques; and educate children about the sources of their food, and prepare them to steward the land that provides it. 

  • 92% of farms in NYS are considered small farms, making less than $250,000 revenue annually. The Cornell Small Farms Program supports these small farms by providing information resources and referrals, research on relevant topics, work teams on hot-button issues, and support for the development of new farms through its Northeast Beginning Farmer Project.
